ELINEX delivered a power container to Applied Medical Europe in Amersfoort

Applied about ELINEX

There's a difference between the initial request at Elinex and the final design, it appears. "Our first request only considered the controlled termination of a cycle. In the end, we chose to be able to provide emergency power to the entire building. We now operate without risks and continuously."

It fully meets our needs. Everything went according to schedule. The emergency power supply also meets the size requirements set by Applied Medical. This installation can support the entire building. We can now guarantee delivery to our customers.”

About Applied

It's March 21, 2023, when the first champagne cork finds its way up in the atrium of Applied Medical Europe's office in Amersfoort. Delegations from Applied Medical and Elinex Power Solutions raise their glasses to celebrate the completion of the new emergency power supply. Xander van Rootselaar, Manager Commerce at Elinex, welcomes everyone and explains the reason for the toast: the ELINEX Power container containing a 500 kW emergency power generator and a UPS system from Centiel, equipped with innovative batteries, equipped with BACS (which stands for ‘Battery Analyze & Care System’) an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) and cooling. "A total solution with which Applied Medical can effortlessly move forward for 15 years," says Xander. With the presentation of the necessary flowers and a beautiful work of art to Ralf Slag, program manager at Applied Medical and project leader regarding the emergency power supply, the transfer of the system is officially a fact.

Challenge

It's clear that medical products must be very reliable. "That's why the process must also keep running," Ralf explains. "A pallet is in the sterilization line for about 24 hours. In case of a power outage, there are 36 pallets of products stuck in the sterilization line, which you can then discard. Emergency power is therefore vital, and thanks to the ATS configuration, we seamlessly switch to emergency power in case of emergencies."

The solution

The Elinex Power containers are compactly set up between the company halls and have become truly custom in size. Ralf Slag: "Due to changes in the building design, there was less space available than previously thought. This required some modifications to the design of the Power container. Both containers are delivered in our company colors. This way, these containers become part of the architecture on the premises in terms of appearance." Frank Kragten, project manager at Elinex, talks about the emergency power configuration: "The emergency power generator is in the bottom container, including an easily accessible fuel tank. Above that, accessible via a robust system of stairs, is the container with a 360 kW UPS. The system is modular in construction, so it's expandable. The batteries are monitored via BACS, and the ATS ensures a seamless transition from the electricity grid to emergency power. The space housing the electronics is also air-conditioned. Everything is self-supporting." Finally, Xander explains that Applied Medical takes care of the monitoring themselves, with Elinex appearing annually for maintenance. "Of course, we then also extract all data for some extra control and keeping track of statistics, so we can always work proactively."
