Protection

Overvoltage protection systems are designed to protect equipment against excessive voltage levels resulting from inductive energy caused by lightning. Buildings and rooms must first of all be protected by means of an adequate earthing installation and lightning conductor installation. In addition, it is important to incorporate protective devices into the actual equipment. Modern electronic systems contain micro-electronics that operate on ever-lower voltages, which makes them much more sensitive to overvoltage.

When it comes to mains voltage connections, ELINEX Power Solutions offers a range of solutions. Among other things, we deliver UPS products of Powerware from the 9 series that form a complete buffer between the lighting mains and the user. In addition the Power Conditioners of ELINEX which protect against high-frequency grid distortion also constitute an optimal buffer against overvoltages resulting from indirect lightning strikes.

OvervoltageBut protecting the mains voltage connection alone is not enough. It is the copper fittings that are vulnerable, and electronic systems generally have several inputs for e.g. data and telephony. These inputs give lightning free passage into the systems where it can cause severe damage to components.

ELINEX Power Solutions has in-depth knowledge of this subject matter and knows what type of connections are used (such as COAX, ADSL, RS232 etc.) and carries a complete suite of products. Together with the galvanic separation on the voltage side, we thus realize optimal protection for electronic systems. In this context it is not only vital to deliver the correct component. What is at least as important is the knowledge required for integrating the component into the installation and bringing everything back to a central and common earth level.

ELINEX makes use of the latest (solid state) technologies and works together with prominent manufacturers in this field.
