Emergency Power Generator (EPG)
When designing an emergency power installation for your company, you need to take certain things into account. One key question is: "How long must the installation supply energy in the event of a grid outage?" If the answer is "longer than half an hour", you should consider an emergency power generator.
Put simply, an EPG consists of a motor and a generator. Mechanical energy is transformed into electrical energy. When the power grid fails, the motor is automatically started up. After about 15 seconds the EPG starts delivering the required energy.
As long as sufficient fuel is available, the EPG delivers electrical energy. That is the great advantage of an emergency power generator.
So an EPG is not a replacement but a supplement to the UPS installation. Your power supply is thus not only uninterrupted but also "unlimited" as long as the system is supplied with fuel. An EPG is always on "standby" and must spring into action whenever the power supply cuts out. Periodic maintenance of EPGs is vital.
